ParticipantMost Hotpoint washing machines proudly proclaim to be “Made in Great Britain” but not their “built in” BWM129. I know these days this usually only meens “assembled” using components from all over the world, but we like to buy products that have at least some British input if at all possible. I think I read it was a re-badged Indesit…does anyone know where it is made and whether it is of reasonable quality?
many thanks

Thanks for that…I think you have said it all !!!
Given that my good lady insists on having a “built in” washing machine, we are not made of money and I dislike buying goods made in the far east…what would you buy and can you say where it was made?
many thanks

The Neff range of built in appliances are sound with a two year warranty. The higher priced ones are made in Germany, the others may be made at their Spanish factory to Bosch’s specifications.
Possibly £200 more than the Hotpoint but likely to last at least three times as long with less breakdowns along the way. You know it makes sense, 😉

Nearer £300 more from what I can see…I guess you pays your money and takes your choice !!! As a matter of interest do you know where the Hotpoint/Indesit machine is made ?
Thanks for your help…now all I have to do is explain to my good lady why we should pay more !!!

The BWM129 is an Italian import by the look of it. The only thing Hotpoint on the machine is the name on the front. 😥
To paraphrase Mr Creosote, it has a “waffer thin” outer drum, expensive but flaky electronics etc. covered for parts for five years but a labour charge that is currently almost £90.00.
If you type, Indesit/Ariston/Hotpoint into the search facility it will give you a flavour of what you would be letting yourself in for. :rolls:
