please can anybody help i am trying to replace the bearing on the drum but can not remove the nut that hold the drum and bearing in place it has a star security screw but i dont know if it is a right or left handed thread any help would be greatly appreciated

This is very difficult to remove, often resulting in broken TORX bits.
Normal thread, unscrews anti clockwise, a few hard blows applied directly to the bolt head taking care not to damage the hole for the bit can sometimes break the loctite seal, heat applied with a blow torch can also help, please be very careful if you do this.It is just one of those awkward jobs, I wont mention getting the spider off the shaft. Do watch out for the many razor sharp edges. 😥
If you do manage to remove the spider, check the drum shaft carefully for any signs of damage before you even bother to order the bearings ( two of them ) and seals. If the shaft is badly damaged then the machine needs to join countless thousands of its siblings on the tip.
