ParticipantI have the dreaded noisy fan problem. I dismantled evaporator cover and defrosted the fridge. All seems fine at the moment. Can someone tell me the difference between the old and new covers?
I searched the forum and sent a message to UK White goods but no reply.
How can you tell if the sensors and/ or heater need changing?
This problem happened 3 weeks out of the 2 year warranty. The fridge has been superb until now, apart from the occasional freezing of the chilled water supply. 🙁

Hi chill,
No message received about that that I can see.
I’m sure there was a post, somewhere in the many sprawling threads on Samsung RS fridges, about the new covers. Basically they’ve changed the air routing a bit and added a bit to aid defrosting, to my knowledge that’s pretty much the highlights.
This is the latest version of the evap cover but you can’t really make out the changes.

After 8 weeks the fan has started grating on the ice again.
I think it’s time to spend some money and attempt to permanently fix the problem. Apart from the noisy fan, there doesn’t seem to be any other problems. I have a separate fridge thermometer that reads the same as the front display.
Apart from the evaporator cover, should I replace anything else?

Participantdepends how good you are with a meter
quite possibly, its the defrost heater
to test, press and hold in top left and top right buttons together for 8 seconds, when the display goes blank, let go then when it comes back on, tell us what u see
hope that makes sense

KeymasterYou need to spend the cash I’m afraid or it will just come back but, if you’re not sure on ANY of that then call in the pros and get it done right.

I am a bit peeved. This the most I have ever spent on a fridge freezer (3 times my last purchase) it was only 3 weeks out of warranty and it is a stock fault????
I know where you’re coming from, I repair mobile phones and computers, and so with the right help I should be able to fix this for the cost of components. I only bought this fridge freezer for the ice and chilled water; my last fridge freezer gave me good service for 18 years.

KeymasterHave you tried calling Samsung and explaining the problem reasonably?
Usually they’re not that bad and will try to help or go some way toward costs. It’s worth a call IMO.

Thanks to a forum member, a Samsung engineer came out last week and replaced the evaporator cover FOC.
