Recycling (for use!) old fridge / freezer.

Does anyone know of an organisation or similar – for my purposes near Sussex – that wants old appliances for reconditioning and passing on to those who would most benefit? i.e. not for resale.
I use Freecycle locally for other items, but my fridge freezer needs some tlc to function at its best before finding a new home. I think its worth rescuing – any suggestions?
