ParticipantHi ~ I’ve just come across this excellent forum after typing in “Samsung Refrigerator Problem” in Google.
I’ve just read some of the other threads & now realise I am not alone with the problems that have just developed with our fridge freezer after nearly four years of good service (apart from a fragile water dispenser lever).
Symptoms: first noticed that the 2 degree fridge indicator was flashing on and off and that the fridge wasn’t as cold as usual ~ the lower area of the fridge appeared colder than the upper area though. I adjusted fridge temperature and each fridge number flashed.
Decided to turn it off for 15 minutes assuming this may “reset” the fridge.
When i turned it back on the fridge reading was 16 degrees which seemed more like reality. The fridge reading stayed at 16 for about two hours and then gradually counted down to 7 degrees and then slowly counted back up to 18 where it has stayed (thereabouts) ever since.
The freezer, water dispenser and ice maker are all working fine (touch wood) and there are no noisy motor sounds or signs of water collecting at the bottom of the fridge of frosting up (as experienced in other threads).
The two top button diagnosis check reveals the bottom horizontal bar on the second fridge temperature digit.
I am a quite handy and hope to be able to carry out a simple repair if instructed ~ I would appreciate any help with the diagnosis and an idea of the parts that I may need (and approx. cost).
Many thanks for anyone who could take the time to offer advice.September 7, 2007 at 3:56 am #226874admin

Hi Rich
It could be 2 things, the defrost sensor has failed causing the fan to jam or the evaperator cover has failed.both are available from myself or the shop section.I would advise changing both parts.

Hi Bryan,
Many thanks for posting your reply and ruling out the thermal fuse and defrost heater ~ much appreciated.
I assume the parts come with self explanatory diagrams but before I order them ~ am I right in thinking that the defrost sensor and evaporator cover are changed via removing the internal panel behind the vegetable tray at the bottom of the fridge (or do you need to remove the external rear panel to get to them)?
From looking in the shop section I think I need to order parts:
DA3200006B (frost sensor) £13.19 &
DA97-00092S (evaporator cover) £82.25
but would be happy to order through you if you kindly let me know how to place the order.Regards, Rich

I have exactly the same fridge and surprise surprise – the same problem.
Can you tell me which part solved the problem? Am happy to order both parts if it fixes it but would rather spend £13 as a dishwasher problem is ongoing and today had to get water softener fixed at £175!!
AaaarrrrrgggghhHHHH!!!!!!!!
Like Rich I am happy doing small jobs provided I have instructions.
This forum is one of my best finds on the web. Thanks for any responses.

Having re read Rich’s original post there is a slight difference between our problems, my frige temperature display is not flashing – would that make a difference to the part I need to order?
Many thanks -
