My washing machine was going through its cycle on its third wash of the day when suddenly there was a loud bang and smoke came out of the top of the machine with a nice electrical smell , blowing the plugs fuse also.

iv took the machine apart and looked at the motor , brushes are fine . is there a way of testing the motor using a multimeter , balancing etc?

the suppressor looks blown L & V inputs are black could it just be this or would something worse have caused this ???

the machine itself was left in the house when i bought it 2 and half years ago.

also on the seal to the door over the years a black dirt deposit has accumululated is there anything i can use to get rid of this ?

The mains filter ( suppressor ) is quite prone to going up in smoke on these, you should just need to fit a new one.

Part number is 91212795, an e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should do the trick.
