ParticipantHi
The fault I have is that at any in the cycle the drum is needed to revolve, to wash or spin, it seems to work for a fraction of a second, stops, starts again for a fraction of a second, stops, and that process continues. The motor never completes a full revolution. Tried it empty, no difference. Removed the motor, brushes fine, replaced about 6 months ago, no carbon or signs of arcing.
Any ideas?

Thanks for your responses.
Can’t see anything obviously wrong with the motor. Is the tacho coil the circular component at the rear?
Is it worth getting the motor tested?
Again, Thanks.

yes thats the tacho…might be worth popping the silver bit off and seeing if the circular bit underneath it has come loose, i have known the fixing screw to come loose, if it has screw it tight pop tacho back on and run a test. hope this helps.

Thanks for te suggestion. Have taken that assembly apart, there are no screws, it just pushes together and also is just pushed into it’s recess. Perhaps it’s been modified since rich. I can see that there are lot of contacts in there such that might be used to measure the speed of the shaft turning inside it and 2 wires coming away to the connector block at the side of the motor

did you notice a round magnet which should be held around the shaft and held in place with a scew when you took the tacho off?

Only on a ZEM/SOLE motor. CESET and FHP motors are also used, which do suffer from the tacho problem.

Thamks guys. My motor is a SOLE. I take it that means mine will not suffer from the Tacho problem?
Any other ideas on what might cause the problem?

have you checked that the motor runs freely when you spin the shaft? when you took the silver tacho off was there a round brown “thing” on the shaft, the “thing”is the magnet which should be screwed in place at the end of the shaft?

Motor runs freely, there is a brown magnet which is attached to a nylon screw type assembly which in turn screws in to the end of the shaft. S, all seems to be as intended.

I do apologise – the above should read:
“do not suffer from the tacho problem”
