    Hi,
Can anyone help. My HOTPOINT WD420P went bang.
Whilst on the hot wash something went pop. Wouldnt drain out with load of water in the drum. Emptied it manually and inspected the PCB( Merloni 21500759). There was a burnt out unit.
Checked the sump this was clear and therefore ordered new PCB direct from Hotpoint.(Received part 215009155)
Exchanged the unit put back together and now get the following flashing lights.

The On and lights 1 & 2 (Drying High Heat & Reduce Creases)

Being a bit handy I did the work all myself but have now got stumped. Have i knackered the machine or is this a simple fault cade that I can deal with??

Any help greatly appreciated (My undies will only last another 2 days)
    😳
    Cheers

Code is a communications error. Have you moved the EEPROM across from your original board?

Have you established why the original board blew? Short circuit motor, heater, door lock and chaffed wiring can all cause the pcb to be damaged.

Had you used your 5 year parts warranty, you would have got any and all parts required as part of the £90 fee.

    Didnt bring the eeprom across.

Unfortunnately being a man I thought “how hard can it be” and got on with it.. Also didnt register for the 5 year warranty. Daft I know but forgot.

The module blew cos it got wet. Checked the wiring with a meter all fine. Rectified the wetness problem.

Anyway if i transfer the EEPROM is that likely to bring the system online or will a replacement be a better choice.

Almost convincing myself that i know what i’m talking about.

    Cheers.

You don’t need to register, proof of purchase or the date code from the serial number was all that was needed, to late now that you have had a fiddle. :rolls:

Some eeproms will unplug, some are soldered onto the original PCB.

If you board has been changed previously you should be able to transfer across, if not then the original will be soldered on to old board, may even be a diff type. Sorry!!!
