    Hi all,

First time posting. I just got a new washer dryer (smeg, very nice). Decided to install myself, and accidentally lost one of the transit bolts in the machine as I was taking it off. Everything else is fine fortunately, was suprised there was only cold water pipe but hey. So anyway, do i need to unscrew the back panel and fish it out first before starting to use it? Or can i just leave it in there? I feel like such a plonker. 😳

missus doesn’t want to use it yet ’til we have calgon, she is swayed by the stupid jingle, i tried to explain that it was unecessary if you looked after your machine in the first place but that is another matter.

Re: lost the transit bolt in the machine! 🙁

are you sure it was a BOLT? because if you have unscrewed a bolt successfully it wont be a metal bit inside the machine, its usually a plastic spacer which has dropped. to check for the missing bit UNPLUG the machine and tip it to one side, and with it against a wall or wife check underneath…see what you can find. regarding calgon …how hard is your water? ifeven if it is hard calgon my be a waste of money. there is info regarging care of w/ms in the ADVICE AND HELP SECTION in navigation menu and lots of other info on this site.

Re: lost the transit bolt in the machine! 🙁

    thanks for the reply richardable,

yes it was a long bolt with a metal spacer and a metal tube around the spacer and the nut and it was loose and fell back into the inside of the machine. I know exactly what components made up the bolt because i managed to get the other three out okay. i will try tipping and checking, but i think the bottom is sealed or covered. Will have a go anyway.

the water is very hard in my area. tastes nasty without being filtered too. will read up on the advice thanks.
