Can anyone offer me any advice on what to do with my tumble dryer. I have searched on here and found many problems about smelly washing machines, but none on smelly tumbles (other than burning smells, which mine doesn’t have).

My clothes smell fine if line dried, but stink (musty smell) after being tumbled. It has got to the point where I can’t bear to use the tumble.

I have taken off the vent pipe and cleaned it (it didn’t seem to smell), and put my head inside the tumble drum- it STINKS!! I can’t see mould anywhere, but if it is there it could be inside the machine.

Does anyone know what this smell is, and how I can solve this problem?

    Many thanks.

PS sorry- no idea what the model number is, but it is 2 years old.

Your thread title is very apposite, sadly its not just their dryers. 😥

Smells from dryers are not common so it is difficult to be precise. sometimes excess fluff can build up on the heating element and cause a burning smell. It would not be the first time that a small furry critter has crawled inside, electrocuted itself then proceeded to decay. 😯

Other than removing the mains plug then taking of the lid and the back panel and looking for obvious signs there is little else I can suggest other than a visit from an engineer to strip the machine right down.

PS. The model number would have been a help. Look on the back and inside the door.

If the OP has pets, hair accumulating in the casing will produce some most unpleasant odours.
