I have an AEG D8800-4 which since I got it comes up with fault code F8 when it gets hot.

The reason I cannot get it repaired is that I am ex-pat living in Poland, I did try once but the local service place had no experience of the product and could not do anything for me.

I have tried various ways of cooling it but the problem is getting worse, the F8 fault display occurs when the front panel and the controller stop communication with each other – this was the only help I got from AEG UK.

Can you suggest the parts I need to fix this, I am an electronics engineer so am competent!

If I cannot fix it I will have to replace it which I don’t really want to do.

    Thanks

    Andy.

There is a cooling fan on the top – does it cut in?

The cooling fan works OK, but when the fault occurs, then it stops – suicidal or what!

Probably suggests the main controller is crashing, maybe I should just order another board?

Can you tell me the pnc number from the rating label – struggling to find info on this.

By the rating label I hope you mean the one at the front, bottom right covered by the lower door?

The only other number there is the Product Number 944171312.

The main controller is an OVC2000 330672101 Rev A – am always very wary about any Rev A pcb that makes it’s way to a customer – I have quite a few years of circuit design…

    Thanks

    Re: AEG D8800-4 F8 Fault

As far as I can see, there are four thermal cut-outs fitted to the machine – one on each of the oven boxes on the l/h side, and two on the roof of the grill compartment. Any one of these tripping will shut the oven down – which points to a temperature control problem, which is of course a thermistor circuit controlled by the pcb…….

This is from a parts schematic – can’t find any tech info for this one at all.

That’s great, thanks for taking the time to look.

The only time I got any sense from AEG service is when they said the F8 fault code refers to a ‘communication problem between the main board and user interface’.

Is there a possibility of getting the schematics from you as I am an electronics engineer… I can PM my email address.

They won’t help you – just a series of unconnected parts piccies I’m afraid.
