ParticipantWhenever you open the washer mid cycle the arm appears to have not moved. The upper arm is as clean as I can get it, a few lumps have appeared from time to time but it is quite clean. This dishwasher has an adjustable height top shelf, which uses a rubber flap gasket to stop water coming out the other entrance. There is also a rubber gasket on the upper outlet to ensure that there is no water seepage. I think, from fooling the machine into believing the door was closed that it may be leaking from the where the water supply joins the pipe to the arm at the rear. I am not sure how much seepage would be normal but could this be the cause of the arm not spinning?
Or any other ideas? The bottom arm spins merrily.
The machine is about 7 years old. Thanks

There are actually three rotors – there is one in the roof as well. Does that one spin?

Yes good point well made.
I will check but I think it spins, think it squirted me in the eye!
Lets say Yes it does but I will check it tonight – can’t wait.

Right – each rotor has a separate feed from the recirculation motor. If the top and bottom are spinning, and the centre one isn’t, there has to be a blockage in the feed pipe somewhere.
If neither the middle or top rotor is spinning, the machine may be underfilling – insufficient water to pump up the tubes.

Thanks. so in other words I need to get the back off and check the supply line and check the supply pipe on the upper tray.
Is it really unlikely that the rubber seal onto the supply pipe is leaking enough to stop it spinning?
Thanks for your advice.
Would a sink unblocker perhaps unblock the supply line?
Cheers

Do not use any sort of drain unblocker in the machine……..
I would start with the top basket. There may well be a blockage where the tube and arm meet. Tablet wrappers are very effective at this. Logically, a blocked tube or arm would create sufficient back pressure to force the sealing flap.

The feed arm appears to not be blocked. 😛
The Top rotor spins, it is the middle rotor – or the one which connects to the top basket which struggles to spin. This appears to be clear of any blockage, I am not sure if the pressure insufficient though.
Do these machines have different pressures of output for different parts of the cycle? Anyway the middle bar is failing to spin.
Any more ideas?
Thanks
