fd 761200296Hi All,
The above machine has now decided (after 10 years) to develop a fault. On every wash cycle, at the point where it is about to do the final spin cycle it stops with a flashing number 1 displayed. It does not progress to the spin stage. In order to complete the program, I press the start button until it gets back to the spin program and the machine then starts the spin cycle and the program finishes.
After reading the manual, the problem is supposed to be with the inlets and I have checked the inlet filters and they are clean. So, can anyone help me with troubleshooting this repair and hopefully fixing it?
How do you open one of these babies up?
I have all the basic tools of a diyer as well as a multimeter….just need some guidance on what to aim for.
Thanks,
Taj.

Hi
With appliance unplugged, I would measure the resistences of the cold fill valves with your multimeter.
You will be looking for around 2 – 3kOhms on each of the cold double valves in turn (disconnected) 😀Greg

Hi Greg,
Thanks for responding, I have the hot and cold fills connected so both valves should have the same values? How do I get into the machine? Two screws in the back of the machineat the top, that hold the top on, and then just pop the top off exposing inards? Do these valves fail on a regular basis in your experience? Anything else i should do while i have it open?cheers

IIRC, 2 screws left and right at side of lid front and then it will lift up and off lipping in it at rear.
Valves fail and considering your appliance is 12 years old its not done bad 😉Greg

Hi Greg,
I will check the resistance across each valve tonight. Final question for the time being, Where do I get them from if they are faulty?

Ok…So we are getting somewhere. Turns out that one valve on the twin inlet assembly is not working. So I need to replace it. Can I use a generic part such as those listed on this website, or do I have to get the Siemens one….£50 is a lot of dosh for a 12 year old machine…Also, there is a bosch twin inlet listed on this site which is priced at £19.99…..Could I fit this one?
The generic parts seem to be 90 degree or 180 degree so could these do the job?
thanks.

The BS71102 is a pattern alternative and is a direct replacement.

And all because of this forums’ help….thanks greg and penguin45
