Participanthelp please guys,
i have the above dryer and it isnt heating up i have found that there are two stats on the rear of the machine and am guessing that one of them is faulty, if not i guess it may be the element, but i cant find it can anyone tell me where it is located, how i should check it, and the stats to determine which is faulty, i think i need to check with a multimeter but am not sure what i am checking for continuity or no continuity,
the stats have different numberson as follows
36FXE14 20036 L109C S0326
36TXE11 12603 L85-20C 80326
also it has been suggested that they can be reset by drilling a small hole in the rear of the stat and using a needle or pin to reset it ….is this correct
thanks in anticipation

Hi Bill,
Chances are all you need is this thermostat kit, it’s a very common failure.
No, you can’t reset the stat but you can knacker it so it doesn’t do it’s job (protecting the dryer from going on fire) by doing that. Highly inadvisable.

If the stat is open circiut ( no continuity ) then it is faulty.

thanks for the replies guys,
on the basis of what you have said i purchased a stat kit from a local suplier he gave me kit no. 1701557 which he said would do the job, although i noticed that the temps on the stats were quite different, any way upon fitting the stats the element heated up and i thought great thats that sortted,b but then it went out again and didnt come back on, when i checked both the stats with a meter one had gone open circuit ( the one witht the number 36fxe14 which now had a red spot instead of the purple spot on the old one and a temp of L120c instead of L109c) just to be sure i linked out the stat with a piece of wire and the element heated up again so i know its not that any ideas please
btw
the only reason i bought locally and not from white goods is my daughter has too kids and needs the tumbler everyday didnt want to wait for them to come by post
i really appreciate your help with htis
thanks

1701557 is not the correct stats for your dryer and will blow when used.
Order the correct ones from the link above in Kwatts post and you`ll probably get them next day.
