ParticipantWe have a Beko Electric cooker and the grill temp is all over the place either too cold or to hot so it burns the food.
Then when the mrs turned on the oven which is fan assisted it blew the cooker circuit and the earth trip switch when it did this the wife said under neath the ceramic hob was sparking then she saw a big yellow flash…we reset the trip switches, and now when you turn the dial on the cooker it dosent come on whatsoever and the grill is burning food, either full blast or to cold (no inbetween)
The cooker is a double oven so we could make do but this dosent work as its either full or cold.
Does this sound like a major problem as we do have a 5 year extended warrenty and the cooker is nearly 5 years old and the mrs is a bit worried about the safety aspect if it is repaired and is worried about it setting on fire.
We have flicked the trip switches down as a precaution an engineer is to get in touch tomorrow but just wanted to ask what would cause this as its been brilliant apart from this.
Thanks
Justin

Justin,
Turn it off and get help……….There are numerous possibilities as to what is wrong. First thought is earth leakage, secondly that the selector switch is burning up, thirdly the mains terminals are going.
Now you either strip the thing and get in there with a test meter and the knowledge to use it correctly, or you get help.
Either way, the damn thing is currently dangerous, don’t use it.

Cheers Penguin,
We are not using the cooker as its just left tripped out but we have no microwave and kids are moaning.
When it was tested today the top oven was crackling badly and then started smoking so was quickly turned off…
Its under extended warrenty and today the engineer came out and said it needs the following parts…
A new Fan Motor for the oven
New Top Oven/Grill Element and
New Thermostat for Top Oven/Grill
New Cooker Selector Switch
New Thermostat for Main OvenI am not worried as its covered by the extended warrenty but seems a lot of parts to be ordering…least if it works it will be nearly new again.
As mentioned we have a family and what happens if after all these parts are fitted it still dosent work and they have to order something else we have been told it wont be until middle of next week for parts to come.
Just dont want to be without a cooker for ages and kids moaning they are sick of sandwiches.
Do any of you guys do extended warrenty work if so if these parts dont work what will happen next.
Thanks
