ParticipantI have a De Dietrich 4448/9 Pyrolytic multifunction oven that is displaying Er2 following a pyrolytic cycle. The oven appears to work as normal after powering off but the door remains locked. Re-running the cycle does not make any difference – it still comes up with this code.

Hi,
That doesn’t seem to be a valid model number I’m afraid.
There are several FM4448 models but they are a fair age now and information seems extremely limited as well as, where there is any, it’s in French. I looked through several and none had fault codes listed or a service manual available.
Sorry, I know that’s not much help.

I had an identical problem with an identical oven.
It’s a stuck wax acutator that controls the latch. What you need to do is:
Tools- philips scredriver, Torx screwdriver
Disconnect from the mains.
Open the oven door- use a screwdriver to lever the latch up if it’s still locked.
Unscrew the 2 screws that hold the oven in the carcass.
Pull the oven out from the unit about 6″ (you don’t need to remove it).
Undo the 2 torx screws on the top of the oven and push the top cover of the oven back to reveal the electrics.
On the left hand side you’ll see a black plate with a reddy brown actuator and a switch.
Remove the black plate by taking out the 2 torx screws from the left hand side of the oven.
Unclip the switch from the black plate and push it to one side (you don’t need to disconnect the wires).
Disconnect the reddy brown actuator wires (red on left, black on right although it doesn’t actually matter).
Remove the plate complete with actuator.
Pull the front of the actuator up and slide out forwards, releasing the whole actuator. Don’t lose the spring!
The little piston at the front of the actuator should only be sticking out a few mm (about 3-4). If it’s sticking out more, then it may be stuck. So…Seperate the 2 halves of the actuator by twisting the bayonet.
The actuator half should have it’s piston fully retracted, leaving a little flange sticking out. If it’s not fully retracted, the actuator is toast and needs renewing. If it is fully retracted, pull out the 2 black parts and the plunger from the part you twisted off the actuator and make sure they are free and not sticking (this is what was wrong with mine).
Reassemble the actuator and clip back into the black plate with the spring behind it.
Reconnect the power cables.
Install the switch.
Install the sub-assembly in the oven.
Replace the top cover of the oven.
Slide oven back into the unit carcass.Done!
All this is, of course at your own risk. If you’re not confident, get a man in to suck his teeth, charge you a fortune then leave without mending it anyway.

It works! If have had the same problem today with my ten year old oven.
:angry4:
I removed the stucked actuator and it works! Thanks for advice.
Best regards from Germany.

Thank you manic_grin for the accurate instructions.
My oven is quit old, so I simply removed the rear pushing spring and disconnected the actuator. Now the locking pin is always retracted and error 2 is not shown any more. The actuator itself was hot because it is stuck and always powered.
Your explanation lead me to this solution.
