    Hi,

    I’ve got a BF1620 dishwasher, I think the heater has failed as the second and fourth lights are flashing.

    Can anyone tell me where to look to see if I can fix it?

    This machine has a tube heater, access from underneath with base plate removed. Some very awkward hose clips, you may get them off but you will struggle to get them back on. Lie the machine on left hand side with some towels underneath, removing the mains plug first of course. 😉

    PS. Its a BFI620. 🙂

    Thanks Jim, you’re a star. 😀 That saved me taking two sides and the back off!! 😳

    I’ll have a look, if there’s no chance I’ll call someone who knows what they’re doing.

    Ok the heater’s off, I see what you mean about the clips….

    There’s nothing outwardly/obviously wrong with the heater, is it worth ordering a new one or should I check anything else first?

    you will need a test/multi-meter to test the internal element…these are well known as a failed element. 😉

    If the element checks out electrically then the control PCB is the next common cause of no heat.

    Putting the meter across the heater shows about 25 Ohms which equates to a bit over 2Kw so I expect that’s about normal… is it?

    I was really hoping it would be broken!

    What to check next? Controller? Where does that live?

    In the door, not really possible to check much on PCB.

    Need serial number to ID.

    Ok, the PCB is off, there’s nothing visibly wrong with it. There are a few numbers on it.

    on a sticker:
    21009787604
    ID:4024799 FT04255

    On the board:
    4303 303 3240.6

    and on another sticker
    183 00084-1

    Is the PCB likely to be the problem? Anything else I should check?

    You could check the serial number of the dishwasher, 😉 its the only way we can identify the correct PCB part number, there are two different ones. Other than doing a complete check of the wiring harness for continuity there is not much else to check other than pressure switch, this is not a common cause of no heat fault.

    The PCB’s are not over expensive but you will have to bear in mind that if it is not the cause of the fault it will not be returnable.

    Hi Tom,
    Did you get yours fixed? I have had the same problem, my element is ok, the next step is try the controller board. Did you change yours? and is it Ok?
