ParticipantI put a new drum in our Indesit Wax 120 about six months ago (yes, I know I should have spent the money on a new machine, but this one is only two years old). When reconnecting the three inlet solenoids, I thought it was pretty obvious which way the wires should go, but now I’m not so sure. There are three pairs, all red wires, but different coloured boots: two red, two black, and two white. I put the two red on the hot inlet, the white on the first (outer) cold inlet, and the black on the second (inner) cold inlet.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Or, can anyone tell me how to check the order? Is there a program setting where this machine should ONLY take in hot, and a setting where it will only take in cold? I assume the second cold solenoid should only operate for special treatments during the rinse cycle.

First of all I would ask you to read this, http://tinyurl.com/mq8g3 in particular section 8.
Secondly I would ask why you post this question six months after you changed the drum 😕
And yes you should not have wasted a single penny of your hard earned cash on such an inferior product. :rolls:

ParticipantThanks for your reply Jim. I take your point on section 8. Why have I taken so long to post: I’ve only just discovered that I got it wrong. I just noticed that it was rinsing with hot water. I’m sure I can sort this, given enough time: afterall, there are only three solenoids, so six possible arrangements. Regarding item three: I bought this machine from my neighbour when they moved last year. My 16 year old Hoover had just died, and we needed a machine pronto. Now I know why they got through three machines to our one!
Have just seen the add for ISE, and am impressed…September 23, 2007 at 10:44 pm #228357iadom

Its taken six months to find out it was rinsing in hot water, 😯 Did you not notice the creases, or the increased gas & electricity bills. 😕
Sometimes if you look very closely at the wires they will have small black identifying letters & numbers on them. Very few Indesit manuals/wiring diagrams available to the trade, unless one of the very helpful Indesit engineers comes along it will be difficult to help you.
Lesson one, ALWAYS make a note of the wiring positions BEFORE you pull them off. 😉

ParticipantNo, our hot water is generated by a Rayburn. I do usually obey lesson one, but sadly, not this time. Anyway, Jim, many thanks for your reply. I’m hitting the sack now: machine is operational, so will think about it some more tomorrow, and check it out in the evening.
