ParticipantHello People. I have inherited a Siemens SE20790 GB/02 Fd8005 440004 dishwasher. No water comes out of the top spray arm. I removed the piping that runs up the back of the machine to the spray, all is clear. With all the sprayams and baskets out of the way water is only pumped up out of the front opening, ie the lower spray arm.
Any suggestions? And how do you get in these machines? Do the sides have to come off? The plastic base doesn’t look as if it’s meant to come off…
Thanks, RichSeptember 24, 2007 at 4:09 pm #228379iadom

Was the machine not washing correctly or have you just given it a test run?
Certain models alternate the flow of water to the upper and lower spray arms.

that’s an interesting angle, do you know if that’s the case for this machine? I have not let it do a whole cycle i admit… 😳 but why would they alternate the sprays?

Lots of these Bosch/Seimens machines do this, as do many other makes.
One reason is to give a more gentle wash to top tray on which glassware is usually stacked, its supposed to give a more efficient wash.
I would fill it up and give it a complete run through first.

Alternating spray is supposed to save water, many dishwashers on the market currently feature it and the higher end manufacturers have been using the system for years, especially the Bosch group. Has the machine got a bottom half load feature and maybe you’ve accidently programmed it by mistake, as that would only pump water to the bottom spray arm?
I’d also give it a try, with a full wash cycle, then you’ll really see whether the top arm works.
And then if that doesn’t work, I’d have a look at the spray arm, maybes they are dirty, bits of food can get lodged in the holes and consequently stop the water from escaping.
By the way, how can you tell the sprayarm isn’t working without having the door open, and that would prevent it from working completely.September 24, 2007 at 6:44 pm #228383gegsy

Hi
My money from past experience would be a faulty water point unit which is part of the instantaneous water heater.
These fail for few reasons ranging from seeds/pips etc jamming the rotating disc, down to water ingress from weepin o rings where it attaches to the under side of the tank.If this is found to be the problem then brace yourself for a relatively do-able but tricky job.
Heater p/no is 268033 around the £65 + the usual and can be obtained if required from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk.Power off if you are to confirm and/or repair. :plug:
