I switched the light on and there was a bang leaving the cooker hood with no light. The fan still works and I cannot see where the problem may be. Is there a hidden fuse somewhere or does the light fitting need replacing? 😥

It’s normally the bulb that blows and takes the switch/pcb unit with it.
A visual check is normally enough (with the power off), you can get one here if required:
