Hello, I have one of these reliable old beasts (dating back to 1985!) and the door seal is getting ready for a change. I have read endless horror stories of people trying to change the gasket on newer split-tub Zanussis and getting into a bit of a mess trying to get the spring back on. Are these older models just as difficult to tackle?
If it is going to be a really difficult job, (as i suspect it will be) I will call my friendly local engineer out to do the job for me!

They use the same spring clamp band to hold the seal to the tub but the concrete weight around the front is a little further from the seal so they are slightly easier 😉

Thanks Clive. I’ll give it a go, the new seal arrived this morning and I’m feeling quite patient today!

Well it’s taken me about 20 minutes. It was alot easier than I dared hope for! I wedged an object between the weight and seal to hold the spring in place at the top and managed to get it all the way round the tub without difficulty. Makes you wonder why Electrolux altered the design on the later ones!
Just testing it for leaks now on a rinse and it’s running just as well as it did 22 years ago. The likes of Indesit should be ashamed of themselves with the rubbish they churn out these days.
