I have a Hotpoint WMA62 that takes almost 40 mins to unlock the door after the wash program has finished. The wash cycle seems to operate correctly and the clothes are clean its just the door that takes an unbelieveable time to unlock. Your help is greatfully received
It is possible that the door lock is faulty, also there may be a partial blockage in the main sump hose under the drum, if the machine thinks there is still water in, the door will not release.
Plug out and check the hose if you feel up to it, if it is clear then a door lock is not that expensive and can be sourced from the Shop@ here. http://tinyurl.com/3aytkt
ahh ok thanks i will give that try. on the display is has a red lock sign that doesn’t go off until around 40 mins after the machine stops working and i can’t here a pump running in that time. The door won’t release until this symbol disappears so i am assuming its an electronics or sensor issue rather than a faulty door lock…i may well be back lol
A simple way to check it is to wait until the machine has finished and drained out, then as soon as it stops, switch off at the mains or pull the plug. If it still takes an age to open then the door lock is faulty, if it opens after the usual couple of minutes it suggests a partial blockage in the sump or pressure hose system.
