ParticipantGuys,
Wonder if you’d be able to help a relative new comer to a problem I seem to be having.
I’ve recently replaced the PCB Module on a Hotpoint WF541 that had blown.
Everything went ok until switching the machine on. Now I get the following:
On/Off flashes fast
Wash Enhance flashes slowly
Reduced Creases flashes slowlyNothing else (including the locking of the door) happens, even when set to run a program.
Am I missing something really obvious? t confused me for a while!
Hope you can help,
Mark

KeymasterYou will find error table on: first Jim’s post on page 4 from “Known Error Codes” topic. 😯
Leds are counted from top to fourth vertical leds (optional buttons) and the last counted is the last Led (right side) from progress indicator lights. 😉8)

Mark, welcome aboard.
Going by the fault code you describe you have a F12 fault, lights 1&2 flashing with on/off, this means a communication error between power & display boards.Disconnect the machine from mains for 5 mins’ to reset & retry.
Check edge connectors on display board.
Check all contacts.
Check edge connectors on main PCB.
If all this fails then change EEPROM &/or PCB/& or display PCB.Theres a great Fault Codes Book with all this info available in shop section

Guys,
Went back to the property yesterday to take another look at the machine. I checked all the connections and did a general checkover the condition of all the components including the wiring, everything seems tpo be in excellent condition (the machine is only 1 year and 13 days old).
I removed the module and replaced it and got the same error message.
I did however notice that during the initial switching of the power (prior to the error message occuring) the following occurred:
Wash Enhance LED ‘on’
Reduced Creases LED ‘on’
Rinse Hold LED ‘on’
Min Load LED ‘on’
Extra rinse LED ‘off’Door Locked LED ‘off’
Prewash LED ‘off’
Wash LED ‘off’
Rinse & Spin LED ‘off’
Final Spin LED ‘on’On/Off LED ‘on’
These LEDS light up for about 10-15 seconds before the machine shuts itself off. Only when pressing the On/Off button again do I then get the Communication Error message.
Any additional advice would be really appreciated,
Mark

When you say you removed the module and replaced it, do you mean the new console PCB you fitted or the main power module and eeprom in the base?
Always best to give the flashing lights by number from top down, codes are same across the range but the option buttons are different.

Jim
Apologies for the delay in replying to you. Both myself and my customer have had a couple of days off (not together though!).
The PCB I replaced was the one at the base of the machine. The only other information that I can really provide is that the customer replaced the blown fuse in the plug about 3 times before calling for assistance.
As a relitive newby I’m not sure that this would have any bearing on the problem.
If it helps the LEDS are as follows:
LEDs on the left of the machine, 1 top, 5 bottom
LED 1 ‘on’
LED 2 ‘on’
LED 3 ‘on’
LED 4 ‘on’
LED 5 ‘off’LEDs to the right, horiztonal, left to right
LED 1 ‘off’
LED 2 ‘off’
LED 3 ‘off’
LED 4 ‘off’
LED 5 ‘on’On/Off LED ‘on’
Once again thanks everybody,Mark

It looks as though you have a bit of a problem, that error code F15 is for washer/dryers. 😕
Did you change the eeprom with the module or remove and refit the old eeprom?
How did you identify and source the replacement module?
It may be too late now but the machine is under five years old, personally I would have pointed them in Hotpoint’s direction at the very start so that the customer could take advantage of the five year parts g/tee. The module & eeprom alone is more than their labour charge.
If you still have the old PCB, stick it back in, give them Hotpoint’s phone number, walk away and put it down to experience, we have all been there. 😉

Cheers Jim
Are the parts guarenteed for 5 years on this machine? The machine is only just over 12 months old, the householder has no details for the machine as he bought it from the previous home owner when she purchased the house.
This is going to sound odd but I just looked at my order on connect-distribution and it appears that there could be a mix up with the board that has been ordered. Would I be right in saying that if MERC00143056 was placed in this machine instead of MERC00108933 the error might arise?I suspect that the wrong board has been sent to me and I never thought to check.
You’re advice would be appreciated before I contact them

Hi Mark.
Looks like the module C00143056 is the correct one so I would think the problem must be with the eeprom. It seems there are a couple of different eeproms to choose from depending on which motor is fitted, and they are not interchangeable!
eeprom part no…
1605639 if FHP motor fitted.
or C00195929 if Ceset motor fitted.October 7, 2007 at 12:32 pm #228891admin
KeymasterMark,
try to put old eeprom (if is still living) on the new received PCB.
If is good it will work, if not you should receive F9 error (nothing wrong would happen). You must try it anyway,,,
The switching job isn’t hard to be done… -
