I had a fault previously where the detergent dispenser would not trigger open.

I bought and changed the despenser.

On first operation after re-assembly it won’ cycle and gives E2 message.

Next to the detergent tray within the door chamber is a round object with a few wires. This is held in place with the screws and brackets of the dispenser. It fell off during dismantling and I wonder if maybe i replaced it incorrectly.

when I replace it I put the back steel part of the circular device against the inner door panel.

    Any help appreciated.

    Hi
With no model number I will have to guess 😉
If you remove the filters and look at the 12 o clock position for a black rubber flap covering a hole.
Remove the flap from its barbed attachment and then continue to clean as far as possible up that covered hole with something like a babies bottle brush and remove any gunge by hand that may appear.
    Re assemble and test.

That’s how it should be…it’s a thermostat and needs to have surface contact with the door inner to ‘feel’ the temperature.

As to the E2 error follow Gegsy’s excellent advice 😉
