Moderatorhotpoint wf240
set on spin start to rotate then after 20 secs or so machine goes inot fault mode
cust say machine washes ok but have yet to check thistop light flashes (energy save ) and on off light
from fault codes i assume
from iadoms post this should be f08
and from dave conways post this becomes heater relay
if this is true why will it affect spin ?

It should effect any programme you set I expect as the machine in the first few seconds of switching on interrogates itself. Any fault then shows as an error. In this case a heater/heater relay fault maybe? 😉

Cured my last two F08 by changing the relay, Maplin JM67X (£1.31).
There are a few on these boards, you can trace back from the element.
Check element is ok as it comes all the time if the relay is stuck.
Have ordered 50 from China for £14 as its the same relay on the Zan / AEG dishwashers.
Otherwise if you have to quote £150 for pcb and eprom, they go to Dixons!
And i’m fed-up trying to work out which pcb it is on Partfinder (good name).
Cheers

thanksIf your “reputable” repairer said that you don’t have problem on board (PCB)… first try to measure heater (insulation)… you can check also with other good heater… but this alarm “F08” could be from PCB connector also…

F08 heater relay fault can also be a burning pressure switch, so change it for a NEW one.

thanks for the replys baron and tony i will change the pressure switch and give it a try.
i checked the heater and thermistor and tightened all pcb connections,
i didnt like to mention my reputable repairer is of course emw but i was sure that if emw say the board is ok then it is ok.
i didnt mention this as tony will know know my secret identity.December 8, 2007 at 8:27 pm #229533billyblue

I find F08 is nearly always a damp board or water leaking onto the board, usually needs a new board and the new water cover over the board that Hotpoint have brought out.

F8 – 19 out of 20 are board faults.
