ParticipantI have been given the above machine, and would like to repair it for my daughter if possible. The previous owner says that the start button became intermittent, and then failed entirely. A quick look inside reveals that there are 2 boards, mounted back to back behind the controll panel. joined by a ribbon cable. The start switch is mounted on one, and is labelled sw1. It is a small pcb mounted swich. Is a repair possible without renewing the boards{s} ?Any opinions welcome.

Hi Nepune,
look at the display board for signs of fabric conditioner, it runs along the bottom of the board from the soap dispenser which is common for leaking,
this water ingress somtimes locks out the Ic2 bus (Communiction data bus) from the user board to the main PCB module.a good clean and dry somtime sorts it out. Also check if the main pcb fuse has blown if it has both boards will need replacing along with the dispenser.

Hi Bob, and many thanks for info. Will check boards at the weekend. I am not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure how to operate this machine. When I connect it to the mains it makes a beep sound, but nothing light up. I did get some lights once after fiddling with the start button for 10 minutes, but I cant get it to do it again. This ties in with what previous owner said, and suggests that the fuse is not blown, but I will check all you said. I thought it might be the switch itself, but who knows. Does anyone know if EMW or QER repairs these boards? Seems a shame to scrap such an expensive machine… Regards ken

Just thought I would add a bit more!
If the soap dispenser is leaking pull the drawer out and block the first couple of rows of holes with silicone sealant. This stops the leaking which still occurs sometimes even when you replace the dispenser! It will also stop the problem of water running along onto the electronics.

If the start button micro switch is stuck in the machine will appear to be dead when you power it on. Easy job to replace with one off a scrap board. 🙂

Thanks again for all help. I have actually found and cleared the fault. Found a dry joint where the microswitch solders onto the PCB track. I carefully cleaned and re-soldered it, and it is running on test as we speak.
