Customer just phoned, machine will not spin.

Any idea who actually makes this Tecknic model, sounds like belt may have gone.

i done one last week the stretch belt had snapped and took some of the harness with it so check harness before quoting on just belt.i was told on this site that it was made by bosch but the zanussi belt i think 1195 fits fine.

Thanks Chris, I did have a read of our Manufacturers Articles, there seems to be some doubt about them being Bosch, it seems that at one time they did the service on them but didn’t make them.

I’ve had a couple of these recently – The edge of the belt frays and then catches on the mator shaft. This causes the belt to then wrap itself round the shaft , ripping it off the pulley.
The belt on these are normally really tight and you have to be wary of the edges of the cut-out at the back . I cable tie the belt onto the pulley to keep it on as you need to really give them some ‘teddy’ on the pulley to get the belt round and it saves having to worry about tyhe belt slipping off.
I don’t like these appliances . They don’t really ramp up , spin wise , seemingly going from 50rpm to almost full speed in the blink of an eye

    Qualtex POL57, 1200J6MAEL belt fits.

There’s quite a bit of correspondence about these machines on the site, mainly about the virtual impossibility of changing sump/soap hoses without removing and stripping down the tub. Quite a few mfrs sell them, including CDA.

A common problem with them is small items of clothing getting in between the inner and outer drums and pushing the thermostat grommets out at the back. The flood that ensues gets straight into the motor drive-end bearing which needs to be replaced. A straightforward job if you know someone with a press to remove and re-fit the pulley.
