I wonder if anyone can help me

Ive had my washng machine for 2 years, its a Servis 1300 rmp washer, and apart from the filter getting blocked a couple of times its been fine, but last night I put on a wash as usuall and it started rattling.

At first I though if was a coin that had come out of a pocket, but when i checked the rattling was coming from the side of the washing machine rather than the drum.
I also notice soapy water was coming up through my sink, then draining away a bit, then coming up again – not enough to overflow but quite an amount.

THEN all the lights when on (I have 5 option lights for no spin, half load etc etc), I turned the no spin off but the others wouldnt come off

I then turned the whole machine off and left it
This morning I turn it on again – it continued the same cycle and was still rattling etc, so i turned it off. Later I opened the door and water came pouring out, shut the door and some water continued to leak from somewhere a bit. So not knowing what else to do (remember I still have my clothes in there going nice a manky!) I got a large bucket and opened the door thinking if I can at least drain the drum i can get my clothes out.

Well the water kept of pouring out! Half of it was missing the bucket so my kitchen is flooded and ther seemed to be way more water in that drum than there should be! It was really gushing out so I had to close the door again!

And now im stuck – I REALLY cant afford to call someone out, ive tried the white good website but none of the problems seem to match mine and im at a loss as to what to do

    Re: Possessed Washing Machine!

Is the sink blocked from fat going down it? might be filling the machine rather than going down the drain when sink plug pulled out?

    Regards

    Hi thanks for the reply

Its possible – but Ive seen this happen before and usually it means you find dirty water in the drum? … this didnt happen and everything seemed fine before I put that last load on, would that cause the rattling too?

    Re: Possessed Washing Machine!

A rattling noise at the side (right hand, yes?) will be the impellor having fallen off the pump motor.

New pump time – share the model number with us and I’ll tell you which one you need.

    Re: Possessed Washing Machine!

Would the water being trapped have broken the impellor? (yes is was on the right hand side)

Cause we cleared the Ubend and the water has flowed away

BUT now the washing machine isnt doing anything when I turn it on (its empty I just wanted to rinse it clean) it clicks on and sounds like its about to start … then nothing

    Model number is M6003S

    Thanks

    Re: Possessed Washing Machine!

Bit of a contradiction there……… You say that the water is now flowing away, so logically the pump runs. But you also say the machine is now not doing anything?

A classic computer fault on these machines was to set the programme and switch on. The door would lock and nothing else would happen.

    Bit more info, please.

    Re: Possessed Washing Machine!

FWIW i’ve seen one or several where the Plaset pump does snap it’s impellor off but because of the small clearance around it in the chamber the drive shaft does manage to ‘engage’ with it and pump the water out (eventually). It does of course make that rattling noise when it does so 😆

    Re: Possessed Washing Machine!

    Its working!

The reason for the water not working was …… I forgot to turn it back on 😳

But it seems to be working just fine – still no idea what the rattling it though …… 😕

Thanks for all your help, sorry it was just a case of dumb woman syndrome :rolls:
