ParticipantCan anyone help with this please?
We have an inherited Whirlpool ADG 7540 dishwasher.
It beeps, the start button flashes and it stops about three-quarters through any hot (50C or greater) cycle, although it usually completes any
40C low temp half hour wash. When it begins to beep the rinse programme light becomes illuminated.
I have checked the filter unit as the handbook suggests and this is completely clear.
Is this possibly a thermistor problem?
If so, is there an easy test I can do to establish if the thermistor is knacked? Many thanks in advance,
Inzy

Start lamp should flash in a pattern if there is a fault.

The start lamp blinks on and off, there is an an audible intermittent beep while the programme resets iteself to a rinse cycle.

Steady flashing is the NTC or thermistor – fault. A resistance test should give a reading in kOhms – even if it does, the device is still frequntly faulty.
Power off if doing this yourself.

dont think its the temp probe
check drainhose if possioned high enough
drains freely
if probe usely cuts out after 10 minutes
( still possibly that it happens after much longer then that )
but then i think u got a lot of foam inside ( mis reading )and i would check pressureswitch ( membraamswitch )
just a thought
😀

The resistance reading on the thermistor is 68 kOhms.
Bit high possibly?
I assume when you said KOhms Pengy you meant 1-10, not as high as 68?Re drain hoses, the DW workied fine until four weeks ago and seems to drain freely. I made sure there were no blockages….
but thanks Cookerman.

Yup, reading’s a bit off – you should expect c.45kOhms at room temperature.
However – it’s a fickle little beastie. I carry these on the van, so substitution is an easy test – I’m afraid you’d have to buy one in order to find out for sure. This is what you need:

Hi Pengy,
I tried replacing the NTC, but the this doesn’t seem to make a lot of difference. Unless the replacement part I ordered is faulty, (measures about 40 kOhm) I am now further on.
With the old component the wash seemed to get 3/4 to completion, but since replacement the wash shuts down after about 20 mins to 1/2 hour.
I’ve tried putting the original part back in, but it hasn’t returned to the original 3/4 completion …… but the latter ….Any additional clues here….?
Thanks again,Inzy
