The fuse blew on the dishwasher but when opening the plug, a bog-standard 13amp one, the wiring is weird. It’s red, black and brown.
I know old wiring could have red, black and green and new is green/yellow, blue and brown.

    Any ideas at all?

No idea at all, I’ve never seen or even heard of that.

Unless any of the Whirlpool guys know is there any chance you could post or send us a photo of it?

Finally got an electrician to come out. Turns out the wiring should go to a box, similar to the ones you have for cookers. I think he called it a switch spur. The wiring is not something that should ever go into a plug! What happened is that the actual plug was plugged into a socket and an extension run into another plug instead of a switch spur.

So, be careful who you get to install your dishwasher.
