hi guys, i have a problem with my FL1084. The drum isnt spinning correctly, its as if it spins off axis (more of an oval shaped movement instead of circular) and as a result causes the belt to come off. Im guessing something is bent e.g a drum shaft perhaps?

Having searched for drum problems on this model in terms of a ‘noisy spin’ i believe the bearings have required replacing. Is this the same problem that im facing?

    all advice most appreciated thanks!

If accompanied by loud rumbling on spin then bearings it will be, possibly shaft damaged as well. you may be able to move the drum up and down by hand.

thanks for the reply, Yep it does rumble loudly as well…in terms of moving the drum up down it just moves relative to the dampers. if the shaft is damaged what can be done about that ?

Will only be visible on removal. Replace to cure. Power off if you are going to take job on yourself.

    Re: Zanussi FL1084 Drum Problem

i gave colt domestics a call there, and he recommended its not economical to repair considering a cost of £180-200 since this type of machine has an entire drum unit desigin : drum inside a casing, which is is what i found when i opened it to change the belt.

he advised its better to get a new machine… :rolls:
