    I opened up the dishwasher after it should have finished its cycle to find clean dishes but a pool of dirty water in the bottom. As we inherited this machine when we moved in we have no manuals.

    Can anyone tell me a) how to empty it and b) what might have caused the problem & how to fix.

    Presumably the drain pump is blocked or has failed. It is mounted at the front behind the kick panel on this machine, so reasonably accessible.

    Bail out as much water as you can before trying to access the pump and ensure that the plug is out as well.
