Participanthi, this is the same as the old diplomat. Turn machine on and the pump comes on. as soon as its on…its off with 2 bleeps. 3 secs later same thing. At some point it had overfilled as customber said water was coming out of door. found water in drip tray. checked pressure switch and ok , no blockages. was expecting the pump to be on all the time as flood switch was up. I remember an E2 fault on these involving side chamber but this feels like a control board fault. also popped in new pump but the same fault with pump pulsing with 2 beeps. any help please? cheers Robwash

It’s a Smeg and E2 on these can be simply a joy to fix :rolls:
If the sump is clear then a second look at the side chamber might be worthwhile before ordering a timer. They’ve been known to clog up in the channels between the side chamber and the salt chamber – a thin brush or a sturdy pipe cleaner (or some kitchen roll wrapped round your screwdriver 😳 ) can turn up some really unpleasant results. The side chamber itself can clog up pretty bad – it can usually be flushed if it’s just the bottom section that’s blocked but if it’s clogged near the top it may need replaced as sometimes the blockage just can’t be shifted.
Other delights with these are that after you’ve tested all that it can still turn out to be the timer after all – or the motor or wiring under the door.
Do you notice the sequence that the lights were flashing in?

no lights flashing. it just goes to start. pump comes on for 1/2 sec and 2 x bleeps. does the same again a few secs later. i always thought with an E2 the 1st 2 lights flash. cheers

Yes, the lights should flash (going left to right; 2 lit & 5 flashing) for an E2
You may be looking at a new timer after all then 🙁
Might still get lucky with a good clean though.
