ParticipantDe Dietrich freezer. Model GG 4124 F11. No model name.
I have an old De Dietrich freezer. It’s just over 16 years old and the only thing wrong with it is the door seal, it’s split and could do with replacing. I called Brandt and was told they only stock spares for models up to 10 years old. So, what? I throw out my excellent-working order freezer because of a split door seal?! Not very environmentally friendly…
I’ve trawled the net but haven’t found anywhere that sells old De Dietrich spares let alone door seals.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks a lot.

You used to be able to buy universal seal kits in various different cross sections. They came as two “L” sections and you trimmed to length and joined the corners.
I haven’t seen them around for some years now – it might be worth dropping an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and just ask the question.

I saw this post and meant to answer it, sorry.
Fagor Brandt now owns the De Dietrich brand and the policy has been for some time now that they don’t do spares for machines over ten years old. For such a supposed “quality” brand it’s a poor show IMO.
But then, it’s French. 😉
Chris is right on the universal seals but there’s a couple of points worth noting. The first is that they are a nightmare to fit. The second is that they often don’t fit very well, you have to watch the height profile of the seal. Other than that they are okay, so long as you have a little patience to fit one.

Great stuff, thank you both very much for your help. I’ll have a look at the “one size, fits all” seal and see how I get on.
Wish me luck!

Hi. You may get lucky (like me) and find the door seal from another product fits your freezer. I just happened to have an exact same size (about the same age) integrated under-counter Neff fridge and found the seal from that fits my under-counter De Dietrich freezer. A quick look on:
http://www.bshappliancecare.com/Neff/neffspares.html
…using their QuickFinder for my fridge model (K4310X0GB/01) and I have a part number for the seal: 204289. Price: 56.40 GBP (inc VAT). Not exactly cheap, I know, but cheaper than a new freezer.
If your freezer is a 60cm wide under-counter type (like mine), this might help. The seal dimensions (I measured) are:
approx outer (inner): 57.5(52)cm wide by 59(53.5)cm high.Would be good to have a whitegoods breakers yard for this sort of thing, wouldn’t it? Just a thought.
Good luck, by the way.

Fantastic stuff, thank you very much. I’ll give the BSH Applicance site a look.
Totally agree on the ‘breakers yard’ idea… let us all know when you get it going!
