Hi, my Neff U1661 is heating up, sometimes to full temp, but other times to a much lower temp than selected. This is happening on the fan and conventional setting on the bottom oven. Top oven is fine. The temperature indictor light shows that the oven has reached temperature, even when the temperature guage that I have bought shows a much lower temp.

Engineer has today looked over it, can’t find anything blown, and just as he was about to give up, noticed that the fan was spinning erratically on startup and suggested replacing the fan motor. However, this wouldn’t explain why the temperature control is wrong on the conventional setting would it? A new pcb is going to be £170 plus fitting. Can anyone suggest anything else that could be causing it, or how to test it? I’m prepared to spend on it rather than scrap it, but want to make sure the right parts are being replaced. Many thanks.

Well this appliance uses electronic temperature sensing rather than the more conventional thermostat control. Therefore the most likely fault is with the bottom oven ‘Sensor – PTC’. Far better to replace that than go to the expense of replacing the Electronic Control Unit. 😉

Also the connections to and from the PTC need careful inspection as well as insulation testing all the elements (to be on the safe side) 🙂

Thanks for your suggestion. I’ve tested the oven over the weekend, and the temperature seems all over the place. I’ve found the details of my oven on the Neff website – https://portal.bsh-partner.com/portal(bD1lbiZjPTAwOQ==)/PORTALFRAME.HTM – but can’t identify the temperature sensor. Do you know if it can be replaced independently of the whole control unit? Many thanks.
