ParticipantOK, pump was continuously running, called an engineer who charged 25 pounds to confirm there is a leak inside the machine which is lifting the float and making the pump run, new machine needed.
I am going to try and fix this, I emptied all the water out of the tray and ran the machine. I can see where the water is coming from quite clearly.
At the top of the red rod running from the drip tray is a microswitch. This is also triggered by a little float chamber to the left. When the machine is filling this is overflowing and sending a trickle of water into the tray.
There does seem to be some gunge inside the plastic components around it.
Does anybody know what my be causing this to overflow, and also how do I assemble this to repair/clean?
Many Thanks

Yes, a common fault associated with the transfer pipe between the filling mechanism and the tub getting blocked. The water then backs up and overflows as you’ve noticed!
It can easily be cleared using a small bottle brush poking into the sump outlet back towards the fill chamber. Alternatively to remove the bottom front panel to access the clear plastic transfer hose, pull it off and clean it. 😉
POWER OFF NOW!!!! :zap:

Andrew😯 😯 Shocking, I can’t believe he’s tried to write off a perfectly good m/c because the sump hose and pressure s/w is blocked. Was he trying to get you to buy a new m/c from him?.

He seemed a perfectly nice guy who probably didn’t really know where to look. 25 quid call out fee was enough for him. I’m considering writing a letter of complaint.
Anyway, i’ve tried to clear it tonight, but the blockage isn’t in the clear hose, but inside the unit it connects to. I’ll post a link to a photo later to show the problem.
Thanks guys!

The matrix above the pressure chambers is easily removable, allowing the chambers to be lifted out for cleaning. Use very hot water to get the greasy sludge to dissolve properly.
Power off, of course.

Thanks very much for the help, all fixed now! I took it all apart and cleaned out the muck.
Regarding the ‘engineer’ who charged me 25 quid to write the machine off, should I write to him claiming back the money? I might as well have paid a chimpanzee to visit.

I have got exactyl this problem / symptom with our Bosch Classix dishwasher. The bottom tray is filling with water . Tipping the machine 45 degrees will drain the clean water from the bottom tray but the pump runs continuosuly and will not move on to the next stage of the wash cycle. Could someone please explain how to access the components desribed here and what tools I might need to complete the unlblocking? I understand what has been described above but not how to dismantle the machine!
Thanks
