My Siemens washer, model WXLM148AGB/14, was accidentally drenched when the outlet hose was left stting on top of the machine instead of being tucked safely into the sink. It stopped mid programme when this happened. The machine now fills with water as usual, but then the programme stops and the drum does not start to turn. I can make it drain by turning to the rinse setting, pressing Start, and it then pumps the water out fine.

According to the manual “If the programme does not continue running and an indicator light is lit” (which it is) it means there’s water in the base pan or the machine is leaking, and to call Customer Service. I’ve had the back off and dried it out inside, including under the flood sensor float on the base pan, but still no joy. Is there a reset switch somewhere? Or could I have fried the electronics somewhere when the water came through? Any tips to try?

Update: A bit of further investigation has mede me realise that the programmes is not stopping – it’s just that the drum is not turning during the cycle. It fills, sits there doing nothing, empties, fills with fresh water, sits still again, empies again, sits, stops. Clearly the periods of inactivity are supposed to be the wash, rinse and spin stages. Any ideas?

    Re: Flooded Siemens

Sounds like board or motor damage.
Power off if you are going to look yourself otherwise Repairs @ for an engineer to diagnose.

Well the engineer came and looked, and it is indeed board damage – you can see where it’s shorted out and scorched the circuit board. Is the £200 quoted about right?

The board is more like the £100 mark, but the £200 may include his time etc 😕
