Over last 12 mths machine has done some strange things but reset. Now during final rinse stopped. Lid down power off but power to machine on – code R to L – 01000000 with 1 sec beeps. Push power button – clears then beep & same code.
Diagnostic – but no two beeps (if wait for any beeps above occurs) code- 11010000 – water level lights H & L on – spin slow & hold on.
Part Diagnotic – Wash temp down + power – all lights on then – 01000000 and low water light on but no beeps – if then push start – 11000000.
Doing test for pump operation etc – pump works and cold & hot valves open – taps on but no water enters machine.

Assistance & advice appreciated – Cheers, Les

Your all over the shop here a Bit
But Lets look at diagnostic code
    11010000
I presume Your reading R to L Code 208 (No Such Code
Reading L to R Code (as you Should ) 00001011 (Fault code 11)
This is a pressure sensor fault
Check bowl is fully pumped out remove pressure tube blow thru tube to clear
of water & reconnect (tube is connected to motor controller PCB)

Secondary cause can be faulty Motor controller PCB
Run sticky again for last fault code
Dont worry to much about the two short beeps
    Power button off
Press Wash Temp down & then power Let Go
    Press Advance button ONCE
    Read lights L TO R

    Re: GW601-U F&P 11 year old washer

Thank you – may I ask the obvious question, for some:
    1. Is the Motor Controller PCB on the Control Panel (top RHS corner of top panel there appears to be tubing) or attached to the motor?
    2. What is the best/accepted access to the pressure tube?

    I will do some delving.

    Again, thank you.

    Re: GW601-U F&P 11 year old washer

I removed top control panel cover.
    Ensured bowl pumped out.
Removed clear tube (thin ~1 mm blue wire/tube inside)
Blew down tube – no back-pressure or sensation of any blockage.
    Reconnected tube and did diagnostic.
    Power button off
Press Wash Temp down & then power Let Go
    Press Advance button ONCE
    Read lights L TO R
    00001011 (Fault code 11)

Suggestions for my next move please.
    Les

GW601-U F&P washer with the same diagnostic codes

    Hi there,

I am a relative newbie to fixing washing machines but willing to give it a go.

In summary, my GW601-U washing machine does not complete a cycle and beeps continuously with the ‘Short Wash’ light on. I have to turn it off and back on to make it stop. I have tried several times to restart from where it stopped but in vain. I have tried to skip the ‘Short Wash’ step but it gets stuck in the next light (ie, ‘Rinse’) and starts beeping all over again.

So, I went into the diagnostic mode and got the 00001011 code, reading the lights from left to right as described.

I rang the Aus F&P Customer Care but was told that it indicated that there was an “electronic problem” of some kind and that I ought to get a technician have a look at it at the rate of $110 (turn up fee) + parts + labour on top of that.

Given that it’s an old washing machine that I bought 2nd hand and that I would rather try to fix it myself than call out a technician, I started researching the issue and stumbled across your site.

I have read the recommendations posted previously but what I need to do next is what escapes me:
    1. How can I make sure that the bowl is fully pumped out? Is there a specific set of steps I need to follow to make sure that the bowl is emptied? If yes, what are those steps?

    2. How can I remove the pressure tube? Do I need to dismantle/remove the front panel completely? Where can I have access to a technician’s manual to see how to dismantle/remove the front panel?

    3. How can I make sure that the water is completely cleared if I blow through the tube?

I am sorry if the above sounds extremely fundamental for those of you who so graciously monitor this forum but I would thankfully appreciate any help you can provide.

    Cheers,

    Michael J

I also had trouble trying to work out what was wrong and how to go about doing diagnostic test. I found forum via Google searches. Excellent info and very helpfull.
After reading a large number of responses relating to similar model F&P machines in the forum I found out that after entering the main diagnostic mode – holding wash temp down then pressing power on then pressing advance once and toggle spin button until ‘Hold & Slow Spin’ lights on together – that pressing regular cycle will start pump – pressing again stops pump. Pressing wash temp down tests cold water valve and wash temp up test hot water valve.
To remove the control panel – unscrew the two screws at the back of the control panel and lift off. The motor controller is the larger blue module under the control panel (attached to machine and not attached to the cover containing the buttons) with several wires connected to it and attached to the water mixing chamber and a clear plastic tube connected to the right had side – looking from front of machine. On our machine the pressure tube is a clear plastic tube. Our control modules are blue in colour. I was advised by a tech to blow down tube and also to blow into the outlet in the module. If this did not solve problem then Motor Contoller module was faulty.
I have sent our motor controller (blue unit described above) to ALLFIX ELECTRICAL P.O. Box 701, Wodonga, VIC, 3689. They can supply an exchange reconditioned module for Aus$145.00 + $50.00 deposit + $12.00 postage and handling (in Aus). The deposit is refunded when they receive back your old module. Alternatively you can send your old module along with payment of Aus$157. There is a three month warranty with the replacement module provided it is not damaged by external faults. Their phone # Aus(02) 60562944 during normal office hours if you wish to discuss this option. I emailed them for advice allfix@albury.net.au
    http://stores.ebay.com.au/allfixelectrical
    http://www.allfixelectrical.com
I posted our module to Allfix – they say our module appears to be between machine models – outer cover is blue but the electronics appear to be from a green cover model. They had trouble sorting out what the problem was but phoned to say that they will be posting repaired module or an exchange module to us. Should arrive by end of this week.
    Hope above helps

Forwarded Motor Controller to Allfix Electrical in Wodonga Victoria. It has not powered up which we thought could be a blown fuse though did not hear it blow. Allfix reply- “the item was tested thoroughly prior to shipping, but that is not to say something may have happened in transit.
No power situations are usually due to the motor controller. As your old controller was not dead, there is no reason for your display module to be faulty.
Did you hear a pop like a fuse blowing when power was first applied? Some other faults in the machine can cause failures of this nature.
If you can’t find anything obvious, bundle it up along with your display module and post it back to me so that I can test the two together.
Most likely it will turn out to be something in the motor controller, probably from Aust Post not being as careful as they should.
If it proves to be transit damage, there will be no charge to fix it and retest it.
If it proves to be faulty for other reasons that don’t appear to be related to physical damage or caused by the machine itself, ie our fault, then I will also reimburse your return postage cost.
Your original controller has a faulty microprocessor board and it appears that it may have been one of the last blue modules produced as the board used is actually the same as the later green one but with a different program in the eeprom. I did not have a suitable microprocessor board in stock to be able to repair it.
    Sorry for any inconvenience.”
I have found Allfix very helpful – responding quickly to emails and phoning up when they first received the controller for testing.
Motor Controller and Display Modules will be posted back to Allfix tomorrow.
