ParticipantAm I right in thinking that in order to change the belt on one of these beasts, the drum, condenser and all other bits have to be removed first? (Similar to changing a belt on a Creda 37754?) 😕

I have sent you the ‘Official’ method.
The only real problem is getting the belt back on. There is a thread started by Andy A Trigg that has varied methods from Bob Okines hacksaw frame plus a few others. I have used the old belt to pull the new one into place. I once tried fitting the belt round the pulley and the drum with the drum to the side of the machine and then pulling the drum into place, it worked fine but it didn’t really save any time.

they get better, trust me
you just need to find a way you find easier
i take off the rear bearing, take the screws off the back panel to dispenser, and it allows you to take the drum out.. as jim says, then put the belt on the shaft, over the pulley and put the drum back in that way
not easy, and never , ever take the front off, thats a pig to put back
hotpoint trainin vid says take heater cover off, fan and undo the motor screws…. allowing the motor to twist
whichever way you do it, the drum needs to come out to put the extremely tight belt over it
NOT a nice job by any means!
maybe adam hornsby has some tips?

Best way is to take off both side panels, remove the rear bearing pin so you can pull back the rear panel to get the belt around the drum and refit the bearing and pin. Then remove the front impellor cover and impellor and get the belt over the motor shaft, remove the jockey pulley fixing nearest the cabinet side leave the other fixing on but loosen it. Fit the belt on the pulley as it would be at the end then pull the pulley with belt across(it takes some effort ) and fit the other fixing of the jockey pulley.

Stretch the belt with your foot before fitting it.
Remove the pulley wheel.
You can then fit belt and using a bit of effort(and gloves) get the wheel back on. -
