I have a Whirlpool ADP262WH Dishwasher (about 4 years old) which gets stuck in its wash cycle. It gets about 1/3 of the way through before sticking and not moving on. If I move the programme dial on a few degrees it carries on and then sticks again. I can do this a couple of times and it will finish the cycle, eventually.

I have replaced the timer (at £69.99) and that was not the cause, it is still faulty.

Would anyone have any idea of something else I can try, your advice would be gratefully received.

    Does it heat the water?

The water itself does not get hot, but there is some heat inside the compartment.

OK, timer stops for “static heat” – it will restart when the thermostat closes at wash temperature. Therefore, you need to investigate the tube heater under the machine for resistance. Burnt out connectors to it are not unknown.

Power off if you plan to do this yourself.

Thanks very much for the advice. Is there an easy way to locate it and secondly to test it. I have looked for an on-line diagram but to no avail. Many thanks for your help so far.

It’s a metal tube underneath. Resistance should be c25 ohms.

Thanks again. I have dismantled it and it was full of gunk and limescale, we live in a very hard water area. I have cleaned it out and the programme has run through fully with hot water and everything is normal again.

Thanks for the advice, I owe you a beer!!
