    I have a Zanussi ZWD1261 Serial # 62400148 – which I think makes the manufacture as June 2006.

    The timer is set to pre-wash (A on dial)– no problem – per wash seams to be OK. At the end of per-wash, dial try’s to jump to ‘D’ on dial, 40deg wash, but doesn’t quite make it.
    If ‘B’ wash is selected, wash starts to fill the drum, but before the water level can be seen in the drum, the timer moves on and stop before ‘D’ as per pre wash.
    If ‘C’ wash is selected, the sequence is as for ‘B’, in that the dial try’s to move on to ‘D’ before the drum fills with water.
    You can move the dial on to ‘D’ wash and the machine carries on washing to the end of wash.
    I’ve checked & cleaned the filter, but problem still remains.
    The machine drains when selected on dial.
    Rinse & spin seams OK also.

    The small indicator drive pawl has broken I expect and the control dial is showing the incorrect part of the cycle? The Outer knob and indicator dial need to be removed to access the small white drive pawl thats broken I would think? 😉

    No way was that made in 2006 by the way :rolls:

    HI Martin,

    Just out of interest, looking @ the serial number, what would you say was the year of manufacture?

    No idea? When did you buy it anyway?

    Far enough, but best you remove the control knob and check that my diagnosis is correct? The white plastic drive link behind the knob should not be loose in its mounting (best you check that?)

    Got the part, the old one looked the same as the new one – fitted it any way – same problem. Any more ideas?

    Hi Sheer1delight,

    there are times when help is not forth coming – so the only solution is to cut your losses and start a fresh with a new machine.

    After all it’s only a washing machine and I paid almost as much for games console this year for my son.
