Hi,
Our FDW70P dishwasher went pop. We’ve bought a replacement heating element (50 quid), but the wiring to connect it up got burned beyond use in the initial fault.
The eventual answer from hotpoint et all is to now buy a replacement wiring module (another 70 quid), when really all we need is to source the connector block so that we can wire in the new element. Personally, I resent spending 70 quid for a part that should cost 10p.
The picture below shows where the connector block plugs into, I’m desperate to try and source a connector, and could really appreciate the help.
Can anyone advise if it is possible to locate the connector?
I get the feeling that hotpoint have a million of these in the factory awaiting assembly, but they don’t seem to stock it as a “spare” item.
It may be custom made, but i’d rather get the correct part before attempting to bodge a connection.

Re: FDW70P – burnt wiring, help needed.
Don’t tell me you bought the element from E Spares, list price from Indesit is under £32.00 ex vat.
If there are any local ‘washer repair shops’ in your area, there is a good chance they may have one of these lying around.
If the terminals on the heater are full size spade terminals, a couple of fully sheathed standard spade connectors would be fine.

I know that shopping around can help. It was pay more for instant delivery, or pay less, and trust to the special order “within 28 days” delivery. We wanted the part as soon as possible, not realising we would have such a hard time with the wiring.

Thanks, I’ll give the local brown coat brigade a visit.
The spades were what I was thinking when I said I could bodge it, but I wanted to rule out getting the right part first.
