when I tipped the dryer forward water came pouring out of the condenser and the light went off, the heat came back on, but the water container does still not seem to be filling

What Helo said……… Find the blockage or identify pump problem.

Power off before demolishing the machine.

You will find that the drain into the pump chamber is blocked up with lint.
Have you been cleaning the condenser regularly??
