    I know this has been covered many times but I have fitted 2 x 1701583 stat kits in the last 2 days and they are failing after one load. The customer is desperate as he looks after his very sick wife and needs a dryer. Have double checked for blockages, replace front stat and ensured that its reversing correctly. The machine is in a outbuilding so I don,t think its the door being opened all the time while hot. I feel for the guy and would like to sort it for him, So any other suggestions much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Model number? If it has electronic controls then relay failure on module will cause this. Check to see that the drying light goes out when doing short reverse tumble.

    I agree, its a 7mf capacitor in those, stick in an 8mf and it’ll be fine. 😉

    Be a bit careful using an 8 MFD capacitor. I had one a few weeks ago that I had previously fitted an 8mfd to and it then kept overheating the motor. I now only fit a 7 to these machines.

    There is a 7mfd pattern part available now fromConnect CAP244

    The motor current rises to the square of the increase in capacitance. ie if you fit an 8 instead of a 7 you are increasing the running current by over 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}

    One thing i have found with these is that if it has a 2.5kw element on it as they get older and IMO the motors tend to slow down a bit they have a tendency to blow stats i fit the 2.3kw heater to these and usually find it cures the fault.

    had the same problem with C dryer, found that if its a timer controled dryer, I found that sometimes the drum on reverse does no start rotating again, took me a while to find this out myself, if the drum does not start rotating again the heater stays on and causes the limiter to go out,
    leave the dryer going with washing in for about 30 mins, if it does this it is a known timer fault.

    Called back today and wouldn’t you know it, Done 3 loads no problems,
    Must be my magic touch :lol:. I think Andill was right, Thats the only reason I can see that would cause the stats to would fail so quickly. Advised the customer that if they fail again I will price up a new timer..

    Again thanks for all the help.
