ParticipantEngineer replaced pressure switch and ntc feeler but the fault condition still exists f7 I think it is .Appliance is constantly filling and emptying and will not go into wash program . After another phone call next possible defect may be a metering tank fault !!! Is this a possibilty or not .Any thoughts would be very helpful

The recommended areas to check from Whirpool (makers of that machine) for the F7 fault are:
Flow meter defect.
Water inlet valve defect or water inlet hose blocked. That’s not to say the list is exhaustive as board failures can cause just about any fault to display. The metering tank/flow meter repair seems a reasonable next step though 🙂

thanks for the info . When the engineer was here he did try another pc board which had no effect on the fault condition . He will recontact me with the price of the part . Any idea as to the price I should expect to pay for the metering tank part if this is the problem . thanks again iain

If indeed it is the problem? How much have you shelled out so far if I may be so bold as the enquire? My point being that unless the machine is fixed and the correct part replaced to sort out the problem, you shouldn’t have to pay for anything other than the blokes time on the job. If the part fitted doesn’t sort it then you should not have to pay for that part….? 😉

I appreciate your concern but the guy has only charged for the call out £60 . He has spent about 2 and half hours trying to fix this in 2 separate visits . He telephoned the whirlpool tech advice today and was passed the information re the metering tank . Fingers crossed this will be it , its only 2 years old and wrong time of year for a bill for a new one . thanks again for your help iain ps Any idea of the price of the metering tank ??

Metering tank is p/no 4812 418 68147, about £48 plus VAT. Advise your engineer that a good clean of the edge contact and a pinch of the connector will often solve the problem.
