Hi all i seem to have a problem with my indesit is70c condensor drier,Two days ago i had to move my drier because the neighbours where complaing about the noise it creates they suggested me padding it out a bit to try to make it less noisy as they live down stairs,so i found my daughters old matress and put the drier on top of this ,the drier was wobbling a bit but seemed to be ok ,yesterday i noticed the drier had stopped spinning in the middle of a cycle and was making a humming noise like it was still active 😕 i noticed there was still time on the dial so there was no reason for it to stop like it did ,so i opened the door and found what at 1st seemed like smoke coming out of the drum (may have been steam?)there was a lot of it so i turned it off via the plug and left it, about a hour later i turned it back on again and found it to be spinning ok but now its no longer heating up i have emptyed the water that collects sometimes under the condensor and it was luke warm water not cold like it useually is any ideas what i have damaged? i have now returned the drier back to a stable surface but im still faced with a drier that no longer drys any ideas what might be the problem? any advice would be great many thanks for reading this gavin

the capacitor that starts the motor is probably duff, and because the motor didnt run, the fan didnt cool the element , so the thermostats tripped as well

thats because, mostly, by putting it on the matress, youve restricted the airflow, and the motor will have overheated

all this points back to your original problem… it probably needs a cooling fan as well

    hope this helps

not massiveley expensive considering the price of the dryer

you could always try the £90 labour and free parts from indesit parts route…..
