ParticipantHi.
I have a built in Whirlpool fan assisted oven, I can not find the serial number but would guess that it is 7+ years old.
The oven fails to heat. The temperature dial controls both oven and grill dependent upon which one is in use and grill works fine.
After reading similar problems and proposed solutions, I removed the plate surrounding the rear fan (which works) to take a look at the element. There are no obvious problems.
I tried the oven again with the plate off to see if the element would go red (as the grill element does) and it did not. Should it?
Is it possible to descern from the above as to which of the element or the thermostat is at fault?
Replacement of the element appears pretty straight forward – just a couple of screws (?) but any idea how much it might cost to have someone replace the thermostat should that be the problem?
Any tips for finding the model number on a built in appliance?
We plan a new kitchen sometime in the next 12 months so do not want to replace now if we can avoid it.
Thanks very much for your advice.

Well the fact is Vic that it suggests the fan element is duff and without a model number or serial number to work on we are up the creek so to speak! 😕
Have a look at the Fan Oven Elements in our shop and see if you can recognise it from the photos?

But hey! 💡
Why not choose a local expert from the list below for a local engineer to check, test and sort out your problem….BRILLIANT…go for it!! 8)

Thanks Martin.
I found the model number: AKP511 so your url suggests part number ELE3355.
Is it simply a case of unscrewing the old element and screwing in the new?
Is the thermostat definitely discounted as the problem? Why?
Thanks again for your help.

For an expert with good electrical knowledge and the right tools?….Yes!

Of course not but in the grand scheme of things the element is the weakest link. Like a lightbulb in your living room, when the light goes out is it the bulb or the switch?…You choose?
An expert is at hand (as I said earlier) from the link below, otherwise you’re on your own mate! 😉
