Excluding the mains light, can you give us the lights by number from the left please, ?

Assuming that the green one is the mains indicator, lights 1 + 3 suggest blocked filters.
A good clean out of everything you can get at and if you can then get it to run, a blast on the hottest cycle with a dishwasher cleaner may do the trick.
Can also be due to software errors.
Useful article here plus some linked info that may help. http://tinyurl.com/yuzjdk

Jim,
All filters are clean.
The first red (ON) is the mains indicator, the second red is low salt (OFF) and the third looks like a sun (glass sparkle?) (ON)
The first green looks like a shower onto a plate.
I press “Reset” and the machine beeps 4 times. I then select a cycle and there is no further action.
Sounds like a s/w error. I just didn’t want to buy a board first to find it wasn’t the problem 🙂
Can I post a photo here?
Thanks,

The error codes are given by the four lights that are close together on the right of the console. If the first, green light is flashing then that suggests a flooded base. A very common fault on these Indesit based machines. Remove the mains plug, place a few towels on the floor and tilt the machine to one side. If you get water running out then try the machine again. If it fails on first use the you may have a component leak into the base which will need isolating and rectifying.
You should avoid using 3 in 1, 4 in 1, or 5 in 1 tablets, they are a common cause of oversoaping into the base, a fault that this machine is very prone to.
Some more reading for you, 😉 http://tinyurl.com/y7vqyu

Jim,
The 4 green lights do not flash.
However, they do change depending upon what cycle is selected. Only one green light is ever illuminated at a time.
It appears as though the selected cycle has started, however, no water pumps and nothing happens.
The base is not flooded.

If all else fails change the module. 😥
Apart from checking each individual component for continuity/resistance and the drain pump for obstructions there is not much else you can do.
Sad to say the electronics on all Indesit appliances, washers, dryers & dishwashers are very prone to failure.
If you want to take a punt the module is a C00096972 approx £42 +vat.

An e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should do the trick.

Jim,
Changed out the module. This time the salt light (Red LED 2) flashes. The salt is full. Again it beeps 4 times when reset and selects the correct cycle according to the green LEDs. No water flows.
Is there a solenoid that controls water flow?
Wit the base of the machine off I can see the salt container is full (white crystals). The container next to it is a brown / red colour with what appears to be salt in it.
The drain appears to be clear, however any advise on where the drain is and what usually block would be good.
Thanks,

Salt light will come on at times even when container is full, usually when new module is fitted then every 20 washes or so. The brown stuff is the ion exchanger part of the water softener, it should be that colour.
The solenoid valve is what the water inlet pipe screws onto, the drain pump can be found by following the grey outlet hose into the machine.
Your machine may have an aquastop which can also prevent filling.
I fear the time may be fast approaching when you will need to decide if you are going to get someone in or call it a day,
Jim.

Jim,
Already had someone in – they said that it was the control module… 🙁
What does an aqua stop look like?
Thanks,

Its a small squarish box at the tap end of the fill hose. It prevents the machine from filling if there is a problem such as a flooded base etc.
