This is an interesting one that we picked up from across the pond in the US, a new GE French door fridge freezer that not only kicks out the traditional cold water and ice but will also dispense hot water for tea, soup and other needs.

From the video below it looks a bit of a long-winded exercise to get hot water, involving the use of a touchscreen which inevitably means that this is not going to be a budget fridge freezer. Which begs the question, why? Surely anyone with a kitchen large enough to accommodate the unit and with the cash to splash on one would just buy an instant hot water tap from the likes of In Sink Erator as that’s much more convenient for hot water needs.

Or, a £10 kettle.

The price… $3200. Which makes that kettle or a £200 instant hot water tap sound mighty appealing.
