ParticipantHi Guys,
I,m scratching my head on this one so if anyone has any information i would be most greatful.
I went to this machine last week and found the belt to be snapped a nice simple job i here you say and your right it should be.
I ordered a new belt from qualtex a pol89 on taking this to the machine i found it to be way to small just fitting the drum??? i then ordered a hotpoint part number c00145707 but this appears to be the same size as pol89 did hotpoint fit a bigger drum to some models? is there another part number for this machine. as i said any help appreciated as i am looking a bit of a prat on this one.rgds

Thanks for info martin, the belts that have come you really have to fight with them just to get them on the drum let alone cover the distance to the motor shaf.
also the there are no jocky wheels and a fixed motor, the machine cmae from john lewis infact both machine came from ther and broke down the same day.
pump failed on the washer and belt on the tumbly. i must be doing something really wrong i just cant see how these belts fit that machine.
i will try again on friday and see what happens.
anyway a big thanks for your help on this one martin i dont come a cropper much but this one is doing my head in.
maybe i am just thinking the worst of qualtex as out of all the orders i have place in the last 2 months half have been wrong parts in fact i have taken the issue up with the rep who came to see me last week and i sent him back with the parts with his tail between his legs.rgds

The Qualtex belt will be the correct size, I fitted a VTD00 belt in 15 minutes yesterday, the special tool mentioned in the thread Martin linked to makes the job a doddle.

I broke my special tool, i use a big flat blade screwdriver now, slip the blade of the screwdriver through the belt then the end under the motor pulley start turning the drum and ease the belt onto the pulley, like jim says 15 mins tops. jj

Yikes, I’ll bet you can put a bike tyre back on with your bare hands as well. 😀

Lid off, RH ( from front) side panel off, watch out for the two screws securing it at the bottom front, release console facia and hang to the side, release one screw from top of LH panel, ease front panel forward and slide belt over drum. Refit screw to LH panel and refit console. Fit belt to motor by whatever means you can, the special tool is brilliant for this, large screwdriver, socket and bar, brute force or you can ask Lawrence if you can borrow his thumbs 😯 . Refit RH panel and lid, easy peasy.

cheers jim,
i was going about it the right way just thought the machine looked a bit flimsy with the right hand panel removed.
i never thought you had to give it that much to get the belt on thats why i assumed it was the wrong belt?
i will get my big bar out and go for it on monday again thankyou everyone for your input.

HI GUYS,
MANAGED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR TODAY, I JUST DID NOT THINK THE BELT WOULD STRETCH THAT FAR.
MY TRUSTY LONG SCREW DRIVER DID THE JOB.
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE INPUT I RECIEVED EVEN IF I DO FEEL A BIT LIKE A PRAT NOW.RGDS
